The Capri is still in its original color of Sapphire blue with only one external repaint in the early 1990s.
The engine bay, trunk and door jambs are still original paint. The chrome / brightwork is all original and in very good condition even all the glass is original including the windshield with its Ford logo. The interior of the Capri is
original and in amazing condition although I think that the drivers side seat bolster might have been repaired at some point. All the switches, gauges, windows and horn work as intended. The original owner kept a log of all work performed on the Capri from day one.
He also kept the warranty paperwork including build sheet. The original 2.6 litre V6 engine fires up quickly and runs smoothly with good oil pressure and no smoke. According to the original owners log the cylinder heads were rebuilt about 7,000 miles ago. The one thing that is definitely not original is the transmission. In 2004 the owner had the original 4 speed manual gearbox changed to a 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission
at a cost of $4,000. due to his health / age (easier to drive). The automatic works well and the car still feels responsive, I personally don't mind it but you could convert it back quite easily as the clutch pedal is still installed and the car was not cut up to install the auto box.
I forgot to mention a couple of things and need to clarify the mileage. Yes it does have 135991 miles on the car as per the records, the odometer only shows 35991 as it only has 5 digits. I recently installed new tires as can be seen in the photos as the ones on it were over 15 years old. the spare is an original made in Germany. The Capri comes with all documents and manuals.
